PHS UK

The Polish Heritage Society UK is holding a very special event, which we hope you will support.

We are having a fundraising Polish Tango in the Interwar Years Evening, with a talk, a tango band, Championship tango Dancers, a Singer and an Auction of exciting prizes. This will be followed by a Buffet Dinner with wine and, for the brave, a chance to try a few steps of the Tango with our Champions, or just sit and enjoy the music, and if you wish, the dancing.

We are raising funds to continue to carry out out very important work, protecting Polish Heritage in  England and  Wales for  f uture generations to enjoy.  Over the years, we have sited Heritage Plaques for General Sosabowski, The Polish Navy, Sir Andrzej Panufnik,  Sir Jozef Rotblat, (Nobel Peace Prize Winner), Johannes Zuckertort (World Class Championship Chess player).

We have funded and renovated the long lost Chopin statue at the South Bank’s Royal Festival Hall. We have also decorated the front façade (excluding the front balcony) of  The Polish Ognisko Club - our biggest donation until now.

We have jointly put on Prince Jozef Poniatowski’s Mass in F for you and reminded you of the music of Wojciech Kilar at a Retrospective.

In this centenary year of the RAF, we hope to put the funds raised to good use by renovating the grave of Jerzy Bajan, born in Lwow and buried in London. He joined a ‘newly formed Polish Army’ in 1917 just before Poland gained Independence,  a 100 years ago. Later during WWII, he joined the RAF and became an instructor in Fighter Command, and despite the  loss of his left hand, he continued flying with the help of a metal hook

Another exciting project for the future includes, subject to permissions, a potential Heritage Plaque for Joseph Retinger, ‘eminence grise ’ of Polish Politics during and after WWII.  He was acknowledged as one of the strongest advocates for a European Union organisation.

If you cannot come, please consider a donation.
