A message from our President, General Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank

'I am delighted to be associated with the work of the Polish Heritage Society and very honoured to serve as its President. The Society's work highlights the enormous contribution which generations of Poles have made to their adopted country. Preserving and celebrating that heritage will only further strengthen the ties between Poland and the United Kingdom.

I worked closely with the Society on the project to build a memorial to the Polish Forces at the National Memorial Arboretum and saw at first hand the energy and dedication of those involved.

I encourage you to explore this website and learn about the many other projects the Society has sponsored. Do please contact us if you would like to be involved in any way'.

Dywizjon 302 & 303 badgesPolish No. 302 and 303 Squadron InsigniaAs an extension of their support of the London Legacy Volleyball Cup and the Battle of Britain commemorations, the Polish Embassy of London has combined with the Polish Ex-Combatants Association of Great Britain Trust Fund and the Polish Heritage Society UK to create unique trophies for the London Legacy Volleyball Cup.

Working with renowned Polish artist, Robert Sobociński, the trophies will be bronze sculptures of a Submarine Spitfire, a plane synonymous with the Battle of Britain and flown by many Polish pilots during WWII, including No. 302 (City of Poznan) Polish Fighter Squadron and  No. 303 (Kościuszko) Polish Fighter Squadron who distinguished themselves by having the highest kill ratio of any RAF Squadron during the Battle of Britain.

The Polish Embassy has worked with the Polish Ex-Combatants Association of Great Britain Trust Fund and the Polish Heritage Society UK to commission the services of Robert Sobociński, on the design and fund the manufacture of the trophies. Witold Sobków, the Polish Ambassador, said, “This collaboration brings together all parties to tangibly commemorate the sacrifice of the Polish pilots in WWII. We thank the Polish Ex-Combatants Association and the Polish Heritage Society UK for joining with us and Volleyball England for this historic event.”
