Polish Embassy thanks PHS for General Kopański publication
Letter dated 16 September 2026
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London has thanked Dr Andrzej Suchcitz and Dr Marek Stella-Sawicki for the publication of Lieutenant-General Stanisław Kopański 1895–1976: Hero of Tobruk.
In a letter dated 16 September 2026, Rafał Wiśniewski, Chargé d’affaires a.i., recognised the booklet as a valuable resource for those interested in Polish history. He also acknowledged the wider work of the Polish Heritage Society in introducing successive generations in the United Kingdom to Poland’s past.
Published by the Polish Heritage Society in the UK in 2026, Dr Suchcitz’s illustrated biography traces Kopański’s military career, his leadership of the Carpathian Brigade at Tobruk and his contribution to the Polish community in exile in Britain.
The publication page brings together the 44-page English-language booklet, the original Polish letter and an unofficial English translation.
